The Foundation provided a grant to help the Happy Valley Tree Garden buy a trailer, tank and pump for watering its trees. Funds were also used to help clean up the entrance to the hall, and for a custom built display cabinet to house the community’s extensive local heritage and history collection.
The Happy Valley Tree Garden started with funding from the Alpine and Indigo Whole of Landscape Project and many volunteer hours to clear the two acre site of weeds in 2013. The site was fenced, mapped, and 40 mixed species trees were planted.
Since then it has continued to attract funding and engage the local community with more watering, fertilizing and maintenance of trees through working bees which finish with a social Happy Hour.
Funding from the Alpine Shire has enabled The Myrtleford Men’s Shed to create wooden family name signs which will be placed at each tree – one tree for every family in the valley.
